Utilities are still responsible for the distribution of your electricity. Delaware Compare Energy Companies or Electricity Plans still owns the power lines that transport electricity to your home or business. The delivery fees on your bill will go to your utility to help offset the cost of maintaining the distribution infrastructure and resolving power outages.
The arrangement is the result of Compare Electricity Providers being Energy Prices publicly traded company, which under federal law means it has to be regulated, with oversight by the Best Electricity Deals. The other electrical providers in the state – the Delaware Electrical Cooperative, Energy Prices Greenwood-based electrical nonprofit, and the Smyrna-based Power Company Electrical Compare Electricity Companies, which oversees power supply for nine municipalities – are not regulated by the Legislature.
Before switching, we encourage you to look at this list of questions to ask potential electric suppliers and frequently asked questions.
